What does it mean to be an active member?

I see it on some many ptr/ptc sites home page. They always say things like... active members get 30-60 emails a day or somethhing. I click on all the emails and I still dont get as much emails as they say. I wonder if it's all a lie?

Well, I think the sites you are talking about mean if you search, you get more mails. I can't be certain, but I've heard of that. It's really frowned upon in the industry (because this is 'paid to read', not 'paid to search'), but it still happens.

I do my searching and I still don't get anywhere as many emails as they say.
Are there special keywords I should search on to get more emails?

I'm sorry, I don't know exactly how those sites work, so I don't know what keywords might get you more mails.

Danny,

you're not the only one when it comes to being an "active member."

I do all my searches and I still get handful of emails from some PTR sites.

How do they expect me to be an active member when I only get a handful of emails to be active? It makes me wonder.

Some PTR sites only have a small number of advertisers so have less to send out, of course smile.gif

If people aren't willing to advertise somewhere, then you'll have less emails to read.

Being active basically means clicking your email links / PTC links regularly. When a site says that it sends "an average of X emails a day to active members" then this can depend on a few things eg:

1. Where you live
2. What interests you have selected
3. What advertisers want

Some advertisers choose that emails only go to certain demographic groups (ie Tier 1 countries only to maximise PTP earnings), and others only want adverts to go to people who have selected "I like eating bananas" (eg) as an interest.

So the number of emails can vary.

Of course the PO may not be totally honest - this sometimes happens, and the information may not be true, or it may have been true a while ago, but its just not up to date.

TYhe only thing you can do to find out more is to ask each specific PO (PO = Programme Owner, by the way) for each programme you are a member of, and that will give you the defenitive answer for each particular site.

Hope this helps
